From Father Willie’s Desk
Last week, members of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society in the Diocese of Greensburg who assist in the gathering of donations from “Clothing and Shoe” collection bins joined me and members of our parish for a “bin blessing” of the unit that was replaced after recent restoration. This bin was the very first of approximately 50 that are now positioned across our Diocese and was placed in our lower parking lot at Good Shepherd 10 years ago. Mr. David Fisher, project coordinator, expressed his gratitude to all at Church of the Good Shepherd and informed us that “gently used” clothes and shoes that are dropped off in this bin will be collected each Tuesday and will, in turn, be distributed by Saint Vincent de Paul to those who are in need in SVdP stores across the Diocese, nationally, and even globally as situations arise.
In addition to utilizing this collection bin, you may also drop off your donations to our local Saint Vincent de Paul Store that is located in the Bi-Lo Plaza, 4th Street, Indiana. If you have any questions about ministry opportunities or how to support the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, please see or call me. Thanks to all involved in SVdP who reach out to care for those who are in need. Have a blessed week ahead!
